Just back from having spent a few years in the
United States trying to break into Hollywood with minimun success, Valerie
is now planning on doing only a few more films in Hong Kong before she
retires to go into the fashion business. Before taking her leave of HK
in 1997, she was in a number of films - some terrific ones. Two of her
smaller roles rank among my favorites - the air stewardess in Chungking
Express and the prostitute in The Blade. She also appeared in High Risk,
Hero, Twenty Something, Street Angels, Dream Killer, Lover of the Last
Empress and many more. Outside of her obvious beauty, I always enjoyed
the sense of mature intelligence and sophistication that she brought
to her roles.
