This was the first of the
two Alex Dinamo spy films from René Cardona Jr. His father was René
Cardona who was also a director of pulpy trash films - in fact his son was
a piker in comparison - he directed 99 films while dad directed 147 films!
Both of them directed Santo films and other similar films so trying to keep
them straight in your mind as to who directed what film is beyond me, But
this one is from Jr. The family was a film industry. This seems to have a
much smaller budget than the follow up, Peligro Mujeres en Action, and the
film saves all the good stuff for the final 20 minutes. It begins with Dinamo
(Julio Alemán) beating up two guys on a banana boat. With bananas.
Not exactly a Bond like beginning. He then flies off to Quito for a date
with a fellow agent. Long ways to go for a date until you see Adriana (Sonia
Furió) and then you understand. She could light up a small city and
not only knows martial arts but the heel in her shoe is a gun in case a date
goes badly. Dinamo just wants some special time with her and who can blame
him. But bad luck. SOS, the global criminal enterprise and no doubt rival
to SMERSH has decided to have their convention at the same hotel. Plan their
domination of the world at night and get in some pool time during the day.
Perfect.
For the first hour not much happens - Dinamo has no clue that all those pretty
girls he is flirting with are not only models but also agents of SOS. All
in bikinis of course around the pool. Their top agents from all over the
world have gathered for a meeting on next acts of terrorism - because as
their leader Madame Bristol (Sonia Infante) says - terrorism is their most
profitable business - right above modeling bikinis. Eventually, Dinamo figures
out who they are - there trying to kill him multiple times is a clue - and
the film finally gets off its ass and gives us a good 20 minutes as he chases
them with a speedboat, Adriana is held prisoner, planes are dropping bombs,
he is shooting grenades, helicopters are in the air, babes in bikinis are
trying to kill him, nobody can shoot worth a damn and I hope he finally gets
that special time with Adriana.
