There has been a spate of films over the past few years in which someone with special skills is able to take out a group of terrorists, kidnappers, sex traffickers, criminals, pedophiles, circus clowns, crossing guards and not even raise a sweat. Just a lot of blood. But most of those have been a man with special skills, so it is nice to see a female with them as well. Trained by the US Military. Good to see our taxes are not being wasted. She is played by Jessica Alba who got her training of course as The Dark Angel. In this one the film begins with her in Syria with a few trucks behind her trying to kill her. She takes out a few of them but then stops one of the Americans from executing the prisoners. So, we know she has a good heart. For a trained killer. She gets a phone call that her father has died in a mine collapse and goes home for the funeral.

Needless to say, she begins to suspect that it wasn't an accident and begins looking around. That involves a US Senator, a cop and terrorists. It looks like the Dark Angel is back and she will have to take them all down. The plot is very pedestrian TV like - nothing you haven't seen before - set in a very dull part of America. But I appreciated the fact that she is totally ruthless and doesn't hesitate to kill a lot of people with a sniper rifle, machete, knife, by hand and anything else she could get a hold of. This is going to be the year of the Woman. So, Alba got a good start on it.
