Ninja Cheerleaders

Director: David Presley

There are times when you just feel like diving into junk. Pretty junk. This was one of those times. I didn't even know they made films like this any more. More of an 80's thing or at least that is when I watched a lot of teasing teenager films. The only suspense about this one was how bad would it be. IMDB gives it a 3 out of 10 - I am not so cruel - so I give it a 4 out of ten. The three ninja girls are attractive and cheerful and if you don't really expect any quality that is enough to get through the film. Plus it has two well-known actors! How much did they cost I wonder? An all-day ticket to Disneyland? Michael Pare is the bad guy - a little thicker around the waist than I recall him in Eddie and the Cruisers, Streets of Fire and The Philadelphia Experiment - all back in the early 80's when he was quite bankable - but I don't think I have seen him in any of his many films since then. But best of all is George Takei! I have such affection for this guy - some of course from his days on Star Trek but mainly for his constant often humorous barrage of internet attacks on Trump.

The three actresses who play the Ninja Cheerleaders went on to great fame - in their household perhaps - but this film seemingly was not a springboard to success. Kind of sad because they look like they were having fun here and their agents probably told them that this was their big break - to play the leads in an action female kickass crushing testicles film. They are in Junior College with aspirations to go to Brown University - I wonder if Brown sued. All three are geniuses, cheerleaders and of course deadly ninjas being trained by Takei. Oh, and also strippers in Takei's club at night to earn money for Brown. It was likely this extra-curriculum activity that so impressed Brown. He sends them on a mission to steal a sword in a museum on a military base which they succeed at after beating up some soldiers - but this has nothing to do with the rest of the film.

But a crime syndicate boss is released from jail - Pare - and he wants the strip club - kidnaps Takei and threatens to kill him if the girls don't deliver the deed. Poor girls. On the same day they have to take finals, cheerlead at a game, enter a strip club final competition and beat the crap out of about 30 guys. They had to be tired. Not to raise any hopes out there but none of the threesome get naked though there is a tittering of nudity in the film. It is just a really dumb film but it looks good and I got through it with ease. The ending hints at a sequel but tragically it never seems to have come to fruition. If only.
